Avengers: Infinity War is the outcome of 3 decent films and 15 mediocre films. Avengers: Infinity Waris extraordinary overrated, all Marvel films (with the exception of a few.) are just dumb action films, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. So why is it that people are getting so emotionally invested in just another dumb action. The the quality of these movies range between anywhere of Ok, average to mediocre. And let me explain to you what is it that makes Avengers: Infinity War just an another mediocre. But I know to tell you this is just pointless because you're just going to dislike this review anyways.
First I am going to address what people are praising the most about this film. So people are saying that this film is good because of how this was the first film that was able to take a lot of characters from other film and make it into a film. The reason why this is not a positive towards the movie is that all that you are really saying is this is good because it is a squall to a film that I liked. That's it. By saying that you are not judging this film as a price of art, but instead you are judging this film as an event. Which means nothing to me. This film should be able to stand on its own, If it can't then it is a bad movie. This being a squall is neither a positive nor a negative. You saying this is bacily telling Hollywood that if they have no ideas and just make squall avatar squall then the film will be automatically good. And again this is neither a positive nor a negative. The only reason why I an address this is because people are saying this is a positive. But I am not taking any points away from this film because of that.
The acting in this film van rang from good to bad. There is a lot of actors in this film, But some felt miscated. The best example is Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange is a witty smartass just like every other character in this film. Benedict Cumberbatch is a dramatic actor and is not a good comedy. He has no experience in comedy. Look at his Filmography the only comedy role he has ever done was a highly scene in Zoolander 2 (which was triable) but everything else is dramas.
But what about the commodity in this film will it is complete rubbish? I have never seen such a lazily written commodity in my life. There are two jokes in this film. First, there is the reference, the references in this film are lazy and dumb and here's a pierced example of how bad they are. In the first act of the film where Hulk was saying to Ironman that they needed to get the Avengers. Ironman says that the Avengers broke up, Hulk says "They just broke up, like the Beatles." Now here is why this is a bad joke. All the joke is, is that it is simply acknowledging that The Beatles exist. it requires very little understanding of who and what The Beatles were, so fans of The Beatles will find nothing because there is no joke. It can barely be called the joke, now in comparison to another reference to the Beatles. In the TV show, family guy brian says "This is more disappointing than Ringo's songwriting." That joke works not because they simply acknowledging that The Beatles existed, it workers because of how they take something that the Beatles had done and made it into a joke. Now even if you don't like this joke you have to acknowledge that it is a better-written joke than the one in Avengers because all Avengers does is acknowledge the Beatles without making any clever jokes on them. Now the second type of humor in this film is bathos. Now I already explained why this does not work in Marvel film in my Thor: Ragnarok review. But just for a breath some up, it takes the serious scenes and rounds them by adding an unnecessary joke that is painfully unfunny. The reason why bathos is such a terrible form of comity because it makes the tone of the film inconsistent. Their are series scenes in this film that have have joke thrown into then just for the sack of having a joke. Because of this the tone of the film is all over the place. Having a constant tone is an extremely important thing to have in a film, and it's not like it's a hard thing to do this is something not even the worst story writers would get wrong
Now I am going to make a statement that might be considered controversial but, I think that the humor in the disaster Movie was better written and more intelligent. Now am not saying that Avengers: infinity war is inferior to the Disaster Movie. Unlike the disaster Movie, this film has good special effects/CGI some good acting and is at least continent at filmmaking. But when it comes down to the quality of humor disaster Movie is by far much better. The references in disaster Movie actually makes a joke out of what they are referencing making and rarely use bathos unlike Avengers: infinity war was that is 90% of all its humor.
Something that I find completely shocking is how everyone has ignored these films cliches. Let me ask you, my humble readers, what is it that that character is fighting over. Well, MacGuffins of cors. But to give this film crit they did innovate this cliche by instead of having just one MacGuffin there are six MacGuffins. What those MacGuffin do exactly is never told but it just makes the big bad guy really strong so the heroes need to get them before the bad guy does. What an original plot point that we have never seen in a story ever before. And Gamora is kidnapped so there's a Damsel in Distress.
The characters in this film are complete dom ass. They have three chances to kill Thanos but their stupidity screws they over every signal time. In the 3ed act of the film are about to take off Thanos's club but Star-Lord gets mad at Thanos and scrows the whole thing up. Then Thor throws his ax at Thanos's chest. Thano looks up to Thor and says "You should of went for the heard" So why THE HELL did he not go for the head. They are making the characters stupid so the main villain well live for the next movie.
Why do people think that the characters that died in this actually die and it's not a fake out? Thanos brought back some random red guy back to life so he could take his stone. So they are obviously going to use this to bring back all those characters back to life. And simply just killing a characters does not make it into a good death scene.
And the last problem of this film is that it is BORING. This film is two and a half hours long but it felt like two and a half years. The second act is unbearably boring I could barely go throw with the entire film.
All and all Avengers: Infinity war is just a dumb action film, there's really nothing to get out of this besides some all right action BUT THAT IS IT. The comedy is extraordinarily bad and lazy, the plot predictable boring and cliched. I find it balling that such a predictable boring and cliched plot and be thought of as a masterpiece by so many.
And that is why I give Avengers: Infinity War a 3 out of 10.
